Find one of your guns. Hold it. Hold onto it. Cling a little tighter. Someone is already celebrating plans for your future and they don’t look anything like the America you love.
Russia’s President Medvedev spoke these chilling words yesterday: (citation at end)
We are living in a unique time. And we should use it to build a modern, flourishing and strong Russia … which will be a co-founder of the new world economic order and a full participant in the collective political leadership of the post-crisis world.”

As American news channels focus on oil and pelicans, the Middle East girds for war. In the vacuum left by a formerly strong America, Russia and Iran in particular line up against Israel.
The latest round of UN sanctions got this response from Iran’s Parliament Speaker:
I am warning the U.S. and certain adventurous countries that in case they plan to inspect the cargo of Iranian ships and planes, they should rest assured that we will do the same in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman (with their ships).
They are threatening to board our ships. We are talking war here. Even if Iran’s politician is just talking, this elevates the posturing to a new level. This bellicosity came on the same day as Gates warned Congress against a coming Iranian capability to launch a missile salvo against European targets.
Let’s just think about this a minute: Iran with a nuclear weapons capability plus a missile fleet with sufficient range to strike at least Europe. This is no speculation: this is the future. Not enough range yet? With continuing Russian help, they enhance their missile fleet range around the clock.
I don’t trust Russia–never have. As far as MJM is concerned, the damned commies are still out to get us. Cover your flanks and rear, gun-owners. Stockpile. This could all go real bad, real fast. All you have to do is look at Katrina to see what would happen here during the chaos of collapse. The Great Zombie Invasion. We have hard times coming.

Tip Number 13) Be prepared for some opponent citizens to try to pull rank.
Please listen to this 8-second .wav file warning you about the tyranny of democracy first: 3000 Tyrants
You might recognize this from the movie, The Patriot.Benjamin Martin warns the South Carolina Assembly about the tyranny of democracy. Well, you’ve got those little conglomerations of pocket-tyrants and some will mobilize against you.
Be prepared to answer people who purport to represent informal boards, committees or ad hoc groups. There are all manner of little busybody activist committees these days. Municipal governments create them for many purposes. The positive is citizen involvement. The negative is that these councils wield whatever influence they exert without being elected. Generally, at best, they bring ideas, attend to details, summon people who have some level of expertise, and they do provide a few people the opportunity to have more of a voice. Most of the time, they tend to their focused function and are harmless. The Greenways Commission. The Friends of Bryant Park. The Lakeshore Neighborhood Association. The Saturday Library Supporters.

Writing about the American Rifleman review of the .380 automatics reminded me of the review I posted on a couple of forums of the CMMG .22 conversion kit for the AR. Considering the cost of ammo and the quality of the conversion kit, I think that’s worth posting here, so, here goes.

Introduction
5.56 / .223 ammo costs about 40¢ per round. .22 Long Rifle ammo costs about 4 ½¢ per round. Less than a nickel each or 8 times more? That’s our choice. But, are these conversions reliable, and is the training you get valid: is it like training with 5.56mm? With the SWAT article a few months back, and the cost of my last 5.56 order, I decided to stockpile more 5.56 for the zombie invasion and go for one of the conversion kits to get more practice.
The purpose of this review is to tell you my experience with the CMMG conversion kit.
Summary: Buy it today and be having a trouble-free blast this weekend. Be sure to buy the magazine loader, and get a spare magazine too, to practice your reloads.
Product reviewed:
CMMG (www.cmmginc.com) stainless steel .22 conversion kit with 26 rd magazine,

This post concludes the “Thirteen Tips” series of blogs and “Your Constant Companion” will move on to other topics. I hope you keep these tips in mind. You’ll be called on in some capacity to step up and defend your liberty. Your right to keep and bear arms is never secure.
When you answer the call, they are going to say things that will make you mad. Remember the mission: reduce their fears. You’d think–considering the history of tyranny across the centuries–that they would fear the power or government and take heart at the sight of the armed citizen. Not so. It’s nearly impossible to change opponents’ politics but it’s easy to huff, guff, bluster and confirm the worst they already think of us. You will either reinforce the opposition’s demeaning preconception of gun owners, or you will shake that preconception in your favor.
Shake it to its core. Let them see not only the quantity of people who own and even carry guns, but also the quality of the citizen they are bent on controlling. Help them to feel less sure that they need to control you. And, more than likely, some lawmakers will find that political compromise they are all so desperate for. When the light goes on and they see that compromise opportunity, you want them swaying in your direction. Give them reasons to exert their political energy on some other more compelling cause–and leave us alone.
I look forward to learning from your own experiences and comments.

The .380 made an unlikely comeback. You could credit James Bond and M, switching from the .25 cal to the Walther PPK, but I’d say more credit goes to your insistence on the resurgent right to keep and bear arms–with the emphasis on “bear.” Really, actually, carrying a gun–not just owning one.
Now, the dilemma we all love to talk about: Which gun to carry and where do I put it? (more…)

Enemies of freedom the world over scorn the right to keep and bear arms. In America, that scorn manifests in mockery–a war of words. For example, they summarize their hatred of patriotic Americans with one weak epithet: “wingnuts.” They have other words; I’m reading some of them right now in an editorial written by a local hater, so angry at ordinary Americans who want their country back.
We need to be diligent to rehabilitate words that express ideas we hold dear. “Guns,” “handgun deaths,” “gun deaths,” “gun shows,” “illegal guns,” “assault rifles” are some of those words they are trying to make into curses, but we are also seeing the Left’s fear of the “Militia” in a campaign to destroy respect for that part of the Second Amendment that guarantees the right of armed citizens to band together for defense.
Gun owners, we are largely quiet, private, discrete, even isolated in our determination to prepare ourselves to defend our loved ones. That quiet–almost embarrassed–isolation works against us and they know it. They loathe patriotic Americans organizing.
Just note how they loathe the Tea Party movement. Ordinary people, fed up with the abuses of government-gone-wild, collecting themselves together under the Tea Party banners are anathema to those with absolute faith in big government. They will malign the Tea Party movement at any opportunity.
“Patriot.” There is another word for which they can tolerate no respect. A collection of patriots sends them into mad fits.
So, take heart, independent-minded, self-reliant Americans. Organize or lose your freedom to their organizations. Thank people who show up at Tea Party rallies. Join in. This Tea Party U.S. Marine patriot, singing to Herman Cain, will bring tears to your eyes.

In the news today:
- Taliban hangs 7-year old boy, guilty, they say, of spying for western troops.
Yes, I know I wrote of this yesterday. This is profound and worthy of repetition.
Commentary by MJM: Muslims of the world, you need to look closely on the swinging corpse of this child. He is your future under Sharia Law.It’s not that moral codes are bad. It’s that your handing that much power to any form of government empowers tyrants.
This poor boy’s noose is your tightrope. (more…)

This post is to my Muslim friends, and to Muslims who just do not know quite what to make of the West. The Taliban just hung a 7-year old boy for spying for western troops.
Think about that. I don’t have to tell you what the face of rabid authoritarianism looks like. You know such maniacs could easily be your future–your government.
Yet, you see how the grand ideas of liberty and justice in the West have degenerated into Hollywood absurdity, debates over homosexual marriage, wardrobe malfunctions, ads on TV for making members harder and longer, and a veritable cesspool of Internet pornography. And the lazy, welfare-state sloth looks up like a thief and proves to you with his eyes that idle hands readily become the Devil’s tools. You are repelled by our license and laxity even as you are drawn to our liberty.
Welcome to our world–our shared dilemma. Most of us feel the same way. Here’s the difference: We are more horrified by human nature’s lust for power than we are of human nature’s lust for perversion.
This is a lesson the Wasabis, the Jihadists, and the Taliban would well-remember. Indeed, the Taliban and al Quaeda are showing us all what the world would look like with the Koran forced down everyone’s throats.
It is utterly impossible to impose “goodness” on a people. That must come from above and within and, then, those people reflect that goodness back out into their culture and into their government. We learned through centuries of oppression in Europe that people who govern are no better than the rest of us–they must be kept in check. Limited self-government, we call it. Checks and balances frustrate the power-mongers. Sovereign states fragment their plans to consolidate their rule over us all. The First Amendment mocks them and the Second Amendment threatens them with destruction if they get out of hand.
Many in America are also repelled by what we see our country becoming; it’s just that we are more afraid of what will become of us all once if we plead for “the King” to take over and save us. We know already what would befall us if we arm our government with total power. For, no matter what title you give them, or what religious position they claim, they–like you and we–are human and “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Look onto the corpse of that 7-year old child swinging on a rope, and see your future. Look to the West and see a people struggling to be free, and yet to be good even while enjoying more freedom than a people ever have before. But, if you look to Sharia Law and your religious leaders for your salvation, well, then–look onto the corpse of that 7-year old child, for he is your future.

Haven’t seen the movie, Idiocracy? It speaks volumes but don’t rent it. Just don’t. If you must, steel yourself. “Crass” is a gross understatement of its description. But, the slapstick satire says something grand in the tradition of Gulliver’s Travels.”
The movie humorously shows a future in which we will be governed by uneducated dolts, incapable of logic and obsessed with the most gross elements of pop culture.
Hey, folks: we’re there now. (more…)
