American citizenship means little if people across the world feel quite free to kidnap your citizens. While this kidnapping is an extreme test one 32-year old American woman’s courage, her kidnapping also challenges us all, asking: “America! How weak are you?”

I blogged here before that a hallmark of American foreign policy should include enforcing respect for American citizenship across the world. In other words, “Keep your damned hands off our citizens or get killed.” Stated in more diplomatic terms, and proposed to any candidate listening, I proposed the following principles for American foreign policy.
