As the lies on Libya unravel….

10/12/2012 @ 9:27am

Even staunch Democrats ought to be disturbed.  It’s worse than I thought.  The Obama administration brazenly lied to us about the debacle of our consulate being overrun by jihadists.  The president is a no-show as his Middle East foreign policy unravels–as his ambassador is violated and murdered.  Here are some not-too-much mentioned observations.

The top leaders of the Democrat Party must think that we-the-people are stupid.  They actually thought we would believe that the 9-11 raid on our consulate in Benghazi could be explained away as some sort of angry mob whipped up to a righteous frenzy by YouTube to the point that they would attack the United States of America consulate.  You have to be really dumb to have accepted that spin, even in the early hours as we all learned of this disgraceful debacle.  So, I suppose the question is: How stupid are we?

The top leaders of the Democrat Party miss no opportunity to smear people President Obama targeted with his “bitter clinger” speech.  With Fast and Furious, Hillary was trotted out to smear gun store owners, and by extension, all gun owners and the NRA.  This time, they seized on the chance to smear another group: This nasty Christian caused all of this.  They held up the YouTube clip as the immediate, inciting cause, and the film-maker as the guilty “hater” culprit.  They and the press sycophants labeled him a “Christian.”  Make no mistake, readers: the Benghazi spin is not just damage control; the Obama propaganda is multi-faceted, multi-purposed.  If you are going to trot out our UN ambassador (Rice), the Department of State (Clinton and Nuland), the head of the Democrat National Committee (Wasserman-Schultz), and the ever-obnoxious Axelrod, to lie to the American people and pretend that you weren’t warned this was coming, you might as well also make political hay against groups you despise.  Christians are an easy and recurring target for them.

One overlooked facet could provide perspective.  This advance intelligence that we are learning about means that there were Libyan people friendly to the United States, who wanted no harm to come to our people there.  We should not forget that there are many well-meaning people in Muslim countries who reject the jihad, and help us.  The recent assassination of a Yemen national working for us in Yemen is a reminder: those people risk their lives to work with us.

The administration turns on another of its favorite targets: the CIA.  They hate the CIA, except, perhaps, insofar as it might be used to monitor rightwinghomophobereligiousnutjobgunowners.  I hope someone on the inside steps forward and corrects this sub-set of Libya lies.  It is now obvious that the intelligence was, indeed, bad.  I don’t mean the information developed by our spies; that proved dead right.  I mean the intelligence of the smartest people in the world, this administration of people who are supposed to be “bright.”  Their intelligence is, indeed, lacking.

Our weak, mewling reaction.  In the immediate aftermath of our ambassador being stripped and raped and murdered, America should have fielded force.  I suggest a parachute-drop of a battalion would have been in order to secure the consulate.  Anyone approaching the consulate would be shot on sight.  Friend.  Foe.  Curious onlooker.  Whatever.  Keep away.  Angry Americans.  Ready to kill.  A follow-on force to block roads, airports, and seaports would have put Benghazi in a noose as we pressured the Libyan government and people to disclose the identity and whereabouts of the jihadists who made up the raiding force.  They are moving among you; someone knows who they are, and where they holed up.

Where is President Obama on this?  Where is he?  Instead, our president has little to say about this.  He sent out underlings to manage the spin, but our leader needs to lead.  Biden adopts a mean look at the debate and points his finger, promising revenge or something, but in the face of his party’s lies, and the absence of action, his threats ring hollow.
